GREENACRES, Fla. - Some neighbors in Greenacres are against a Raceway Gas Station being built on the corner of Haverhill and Lantana.
The lot on the Northwest corner of the intersection is technically in unincorporated Palm Beach County, but Greenacres is just down the road.
"I'm frustrated. I thought planning would accommodate everyone's wishes not the big corporations rolling over little guys," neighbor Ann Menor said.
Raceway and Racetrac are owned by the same company, and according to the Greenacres Assistant City Manager, the gas station chain has their on corner lot.
"Greenacres wanted this to be the gateway to the city when they expand and they had a different image than a Raceway on the corner," Menor said.
RaceTrac released the following statement to WPTV:
"RaceWay is committed to bringing our new store prototype to the best areas and locations, including the intersection of Lantana and Haverhill in Palm Beach County. We are continuing to work with local residents and legislators to ensure the new store meets the needs and desires of the local community. RaceWay looks forward to providing Palm Beach County high-quality fuel, products and service at a value."
The gas station proposal goes before the county's zoning commission on August 1st.
