GREENACRES, Fla. -- A Greenacres mother is pleading for help to find her stepson's killer. He was gunned down a year ago near a Greenacres convenience store.

Memories are all Michelle Martinez has left of her stepson, 19-year-old Jessie Rendon.

"He was the light of everyone's day, he made you laugh, he made you smile," said Michelle.

Someone shot Jesse and his friend, Joshua Mitchell, as they were walking by the Greenacres Food Market.

"It's been horrible," said Michelle. "I wake up thinking about him, I go to sleep thinking about him."

Investigators even captured the white getaway car on camera moments after shots were fired.

But the case remains unsolved. When Palm Beach County Sheriffs took over the Greenacres Police Department last month, the case was reassigned. Jesse's mom hopes new detectives on the case will bring new information.

"We're hoping to get more answers due to the fact that they have taken over," said Michelle.

Now Michelle wears a t-shirt with pictures of the boys, asking anyone with information about who killed them to come forward.

"We're hoping that there's justice for the boys,"said Michelle. "That we find out why. Why were two innocent lives taken?"

Detectives say they need the community's help. If you have any information about the deadly shooting call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS
