GREENACRES, Fla. - A 22-year-old Greenacres man was arrested for beating a child and causing her skull to fracture, according to a probable cause affidavit.
A friend contacted the Department of Children & Families stating that Marino Fernandez physically abused the child. She provided authorities with text messages that stated the child was beaten by Hernandez, according to an affidavit. She also provided pictures that showed a large area of the victim's face bruised.
According to the arrest affidavit, Hernandez kept the child inside of the house until her face healed.
Shortly after the friend made the allegations police were able to obtain a search warrant and seize the alleged victim's cell phone.
Police said they found multiple pictures of the victim with massive facial bruising. The bruising appeared to in the form of handprints in both sides of the child's face, according to the arrest affidavit.
Further evidence revealed Marino sent a message to a woman telling her the victim's face looked so bad and he had slapped her because he was "tripping heavy."
After gathering all the evidence and reviewing the victim's medical record and the medical report from the Child Protection Team authorities found probable cause to arrest Hernandez and charge him with aggravated child abuse.
