Deputies responded to shots fired on the west side of the store and found the injured man, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

WPTV photographer Brian Greig was at the Walmart to buy some groceries after work Thursday night.  Greig said as he was walking out of the store, he heard a man uttering some strange comments.

"I heard a gentleman say something about 'shoot' and 'Walmart,' but the middle part was inaudible.  I thought it was very weird, so I kind of looked at him, looked him up and down, and remembered things about him," said Greig.  "I didn't catch his face, but it was very peculiar.  So, working in the news, your attention is always on things like that. I went home and got a (WPTV breaking news) push alert and thought this was very weird, things don't happen this way."

Greig then returned to the Walmart to talk to PBSO about what he experienced at the Walmart before the shooting.

"I found the nearest detective, and he took down some notes.  He seemed to be very interested in the details I had. I was just very peculiar," said Greig.

No suspect or motive is known at this time.

The victim's name has not been released.
