Greenacres couple charged with child cruelty after fight escalates

GREENACRES, Fla. - Police arrested a Greenacres couple on Wednesday after their arguing escalated into a physical fight over pants.

Kayla Chapel and Nicholas Michael Dorobiala, both 18, are both charged with cruelty toward a child, while Dorobiala is charged with false imprisonment, and Chapel is charged with battery.

On Thursday, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Ted S. Booras ordered that Chapel and Dorobiala have no contact with each other nor their child until the Florida Department of Children and Families investigates the case.

According to arrest reports, Greenacres Police were sent to the 200 block of Waterway Village Court at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, after a caller reported that a fight between a couple "was getting bad."

When Police arrived, Dorobiala reported that he and Chapel had gotten into an argument when he couldn't find his work pants.

According to the arrest reports, both agreed that she slapped and bit Dorobiala after he placed her in a headlock. Also, both agreed that Chapel began packing clothes, but was prevented from leaving by Dorobiala, who said he wouldn't allow her to do so because she would not calm down, according to the reports.

The couple's mutual daughter, who was present during the fight, was given to her grandmother. The reports do not give the child's age.
