Elderly woman seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Greenacres

A good Samaritan drove the woman to the hospital

GREENACRES, Fla. - Greenacres police is asking the public’s help in finding a vehicle that struck an 84-year-old woman on Sherwood Forest Boulevard and fled the scene Monday evening.

A good Samaritan took Edwina Deleo to JFK Medical Center after finding the elderly woman injured and lying on the roadway by Sherwood Forest Boulevard, said Lt. Brady Myers, spokesman for city police.

Deleo was later transferred to Delray Medical Center because of the severity of her injuries.

An investigation revealed that Deleo was walking south on Sherwood Forest Boulevard around 7 p.m. when she was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and did not attempt to call 911, Myers said.
