Elderly Greenacres woman only remembers getting hit by vehicle, does now know who hit her

GREENACRES, Fla. - An elderly Greenacres woman is recovering from a hit and run with a broken neck, dozens of stitches, and other broken bones according to her boyfriend.

84 year old Dolly Deleo could be at Delray Medical Center and in rehab for up to a month.

“She is black and blue from her head to her toe, but she is in good spirits,” Tom Sweeney said.

Sweeney is staying by Deleo’s side. They’ve been a couple for 18 years.

“All she remembers is getting hit. But that is it…she is 113 pounds for the last 75 years, but she is a solid woman,” Sweeney said.

Greenacres Police say Deleo was walking near Sherwood Forest Boulevard and Malaleuca around 7 p.m. Monday when a vehicle hit her and took off.

“It was an accident maybe, but now it has been made more because whoever did it left the scene,” Deleo’s friend Doreen O’Byle said.

Greenacres Police say they have no leads at this point and they are not releasing a vehicle description.

They say a good Samaritan noticed the woman in the road and took her to the hospital.
