A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car along 10th Avenue North in Greenacres, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened on September 11 shortly before 10 a.m.

Officials say 55-year-old Francis Hupfer was trying to cross 10th Avenue North, just west of Perry Avenue, when he drove into the path of a 2009 VW Passat, violating the right-of-way.

Hupfer was ejected from the bicycle and slid up the hood, hitting his head on the windshield before falling to the ground.

The patient was transported to Delray Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked  to contact Investigator D.L. Hyde at (561) 681-4542.
