LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. - A Loxahatchee man and a teen are now in custody following a house burglary in the 3500 block of Dellwood Blvd.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says that Bill Ray Southard and a friend were able to enter the home through an unlocked door on the north side of the garage.
The suspects, according to deputies, took almost $20,000 worth of jewelry and electronics from the Loxahatchee residence. The teen told investigators that Southard talked him into driving to the house and acting as a lookout during the burglary.
Southard, according to PBSO, turned over a bag of stolen electronic items. He told investigators that he dumped the jewelry in rubbish at the Wal-Mart in Royal Palm Beach and the Publix in Loxahatchee. Other items were thrown out of the window as the suspects drove down Northlake Boulevard, according to investigators.
The jewelry dumped at Wal-Mart was recovered by PBSO but the other items were not.
Both Southard and the teen were charged with burglary and grand theft. Southard also faces charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
