Planes that were bound for Atlanta were stuck at Palm Beach International Airport Sunday while Atlanta's Hartsfield/Jackson International Airport was out of power. Travelers with flights Monday morning should check with their airline before heading to the airport.

“It’s going to affect a lot of people, especially with it being the holidays," Pete Hardiman said. "There’s hundreds of thousands of people that are flying on Delta, so it’s going to cause a big mess."

Several Delta flights to ATL from PBIA were canceled Sunday. One Southwest flight to ATL was also canceled.

"I was holding out to see if I would make my flight and my connection in Atlanta, but it’s starting to look like I’m going to miss my connection," Jacob Wilson said.

The Delta ticket counter line was steady throughout Sunday afternoon, while people worked with ticket agents to rebook.

Most people were connecting through Atlanta to get somewhere else, so some were able to get a connection through a different airport.

"As long as I get back to Richmond, it’s all good," Alex Riley said.

Some people were rebooked for flights to Atlanta on Monday morning, but as of 8 p.m. Sunday, the 5:45 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Delta flights to ATL on Monday were canceled.

“I kept getting updates that it was delayed, so we ran some errands and now we’re here to try to get it figured out," Riley said.

The power outage also affected flights to ATL out of Fort Lauderdale and Miami International airports.
