WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- On Monday, U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel will brief the Palm Beach Jewish Federation in West Palm Beach and the South Palm Beach Jewish Federation in Boca Raton on her recent visit to Israel and the Middle East.
Frankel, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and its subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, spoke with world leaders about Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, the turmoil in Egypt and the crisis in Syria.
Earlier this month, Frankel went on a bipartisan congressional mission to the Middle East, including Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
She also visited Japan and Belgium.
In the Middle East, Frankel discussed the ongoing political instability, the crisis in Syria and other regional issues.
In Cairo, Frankel met with interim Defense Minister Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and interim President Adly Mansour.
She spoke with al-Sisi and Mansour about a path forward to a democratically-elected government.
In Israel, Frankel met with government and military leaders and visited key strategic sites, including the security fence, the Gaza border, Golan Heights and Israel's northern border with Lebanon.
She was also given a first-hand look at joint U.S.-Israel defense and technology projects.
