WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- If you were governor, what taxes and fees would you do away with?
The question is the centerpiece of a listening tour Governor Rick Scott kicks off on Wednesday.
Scott has pledged to cut $500 million in taxes and fees next year because of a projected $845 million budget surplus, but a state forecast said half of the projected surplus would be a one-time windfall.
A large-scale, permanent tax cut could be impossible to sustain unless the Legislature funds it, some economists said.
The "It's Your Money" Tax Cut Tour begins in West Palm Beach and visits Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando.
