Representative Ted Deutch, the incumbent in Florida's U.S. Congressional District 21, easily won the Democratic nomination to keep his seat in Washington.
He beat Emmanuel Morel by getting more than 90 percent of the votes, with about 25% of precincts reporting early Tuesday night.
He said this victory is a vote of confidence which proves what's he's doing in Washington D.C. is working.
"These results are fantastic and shows if you stand up for the values which matter to the people you represent, they respond. I'm proud of that and I'm proud of the work we do in our office. It's a great night," Deutch said.
The Democrat said he'll return to Washington next week where he hopes to keep the momentum going into the November election.
He faces a write-in candidate.
