The celebration was going strong in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday night for Representative Alcee Hastings.
The incumbent Democrat was the likely winner for the nomination for Florida's U.S. Congressional District 22 seat.
He was well on his way to beating two challengers. He said the support is great, but there's still work to do.
"It makes you feel good and it's humbling," he said. "The folks who are in this room recognize this nation needs to move in a positive way at this point and I'm hopeful to be able to bring that kind of strength to them."
Top on Hastings agenda when he returns to Washington is immigration reform.
