PHOTOS: High altitude balloon captures South Florida from the edge of the atmosphere
WPTV YouReporter Stephen Dechert writes, "On June 1, 2013, I launched a weather balloon, with help from a friend and my family, from Loxahatchee. It ended up landing in the ocean about a mile out after a 3 hour flight over West Palm Beach. I tracked it using a cell phone with tracking software and took the photos using a GoPro camera. We rushed home and loaded up the waverunner and I went on a two hour trip to retrieve it and bring it back. It was a complete success taking over 1,300 photos."
