CHARLESTON, S.C. - A 65-pound loggerhead turtle that was found stuck in the pluff mud of a marsh was released back into the ocean Thursday.
The sea turtle named Pluff was treated by staff with the South Carolina Aquarium Sea Turtle Rescue Program after being rescued near Hilton Head Island in June, aquarium officials said.
When he was found, wildlife officials say Pluff was very lethargic, thin and covered with barnacles.
But after a few months in the "sea turtle hospital" at the aquarium, he's as good as new and ready to go home.
The release took place at the Folly Beach County Park.
