United jet at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport slides off runway

No injuries reported

CLEVELAND - No one was hurt after an airplane slid off of the runway at Hopkins International Airport Friday morning.

United Flight 1639, a Boeing 737, was inbound from Fort Lauderdale when it landed on runway 6L then slid into the grass while on the taxiway around 10:45 a.m., according to Hopkins Airport and the FAA.

Spokeswoman Jackie Mayo with Cleveland Hopkins International Airport says two busloads of passengers were taken from the plane to the terminal.

Crews were sent to unload the luggage and tow the plane off the grass.

Mayo says all the landing gear wound up on a grassy area as the plane ran off the runway while approaching a taxiway about 10:45 a.m.

The incident happened as as snow and rain have slammed the East and Midwest.
