(WYFF) A 25-year-old South Carolina man who put on a bulletproof vest and asked to be shot was killed Wednesday morning.
Now 18-year-old girl is charged in the death.
Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said Blake Randall Wardell was hanging around with some other people in a garage when he put on a bulletproof vest they had found.
WHNS reports they were testing the vest to see how it worked.
Wardell asked his friend, Taylor Ann Kelly, of Anderson to shoot him. She fired, and the shot from the small caliber weapon went above the Kevlar of the vest and into Wardell's heart, killing him, McCown said.
The coroner says Wardell bled to death.
Kelly was charged with involuntary manslaughter. A conviction on the charge could carry a penalty of up to five years in prison.
