Skyler James, Charlie Heflin: Firefighter reunited with the newborn he rescued 18 years ago

A firefighter has been reunited with the newborn he rescued who had been abandoned in an Illinois cemetery in 1995

Skyler James just graduated from high school.

And, in a touching surprise, she was reunited with firefighter Charlie Heflin at her graduation party last weekend.

“Oh, it’s so exhilarating. A whirlwind of emotions. I handed her off to the paramedics 18 years ago and I haven't been able to see her since. And just to know that she was so close to me, so local, and has done so much with her life, it's just incredible," Heflin said.

Heflin gave James several gifts for her graduation, including newspaper clippings detailing the rescue and the jacket he was wearing on the night he found her.
