SEVERN, Md. (AP) -- A slain Washington Navy Yard security guard is being remembered as a loving and steadfast protector of his three daughters and 2,000 workers.
Mike Ridgell's funeral Saturday in Severn was among the last two memorial services for the 12 people gunned down at the installation Sept. 16.
Another service was held in Washington on Saturday for network security administrator Sylvia Frasier.
Several hundred people attended Ridgell's church service.
Vice Admiral William Hilarides says Ridgell maintained his position in the lobby the day of the shootings and made the ultimate sacrifice.
The FBI says gunman Aaaron Alexis shot a number of people on the upper floors of Building 197 before killing Ridgell and taking his handgun. Alexis used that gun to shoot others before he was killed by a U.S. Park Police officer.
