John A. Brock arrested for impersonating police officer while pulling over real police officer

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - A Clark County man was arrested Saturday for allegedly impersonating a police officer during a traffic stop.

At around noon Saturday, Indiana State Police said John A. Brock attempted to conduct a traffic stop on another vehicle on County Road 311 in New Albany.

Brock, who is not a police officer, was driving a gold-colored 2003 Ford Crown Victoria and flashed a badge at the driver of the other vehicle, who pulled into a nearby parking lot.

Brock then pulled up beside the vehicle and said he was a police officer before yelling curse words and threats at the driver, according to the police report.

Brock then parked his car and went into a retail store.

Unfortunately for Brock, police said, the person he pulled over was an off-duty detective sergeant with the Indiana State Police.

The detective contacted other officers, who arrived on scene and arrested Brock on charges of operating while intoxicated, driving while suspended and impersonating a police officer.

Brock was taken to the Floyd County Jail.
