THIBODAUX, La. (AP) -- A Louisiana man accused of beheading his disabled 7-year-old son is out of a state mental hospital and in jail.
Defense attorney Kerry Cuccia says another sanity hearing for Jeremiah Wright will be scheduled at a Sept. 16 hearing.
Wright is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jori Lirette, who had little speech and needed round-the-clock care.
Cuccia says doctors at the state mental hospital in Jackson think Wright of Thibodaux is competent to stand trial for first-degree murder. But he notes that they thought the same thing earlier, and Judge John LeBlanc disagreed.
District Attorney Cam Morvant did not immediately answer a request for comment.
