He can't leave Russia, but whistleblower Edward Snowden will speak at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, next week.
Snowden will appear via teleconference on Monday for a discussion about the NSA’s spying program and what the tech community can do to defend itself against mass surveillance.
Snowden is a former CIA employee and NSA contractor who fled the U.S. last year after leaking details about the government's spy program. He was granted asylum in Russia.
Snowden faces felony charges of espionage and theft of government property back in the United States.
