Chris Matthews Shariah law comment: MSNBC host compares Romney, Ryan pro-life stance to 'Shariah'

MSNBC's Chris Matthews is getting a lot of attention today after he compared Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan's pro-life stance to the stance of " Shariah."

Matthews said this week that if the two were elected, they would run the country according to the "religious theory."

Shariah is defined as the code of law derived from the Koran and from the teachings and example of Mohammed: "Sharia is only applicable to Muslims"; "under Islamic law there is no separation of church and state." the definition states.

Matthew made the comment during his preview to the Tuesday night presidential debate, according to Fox News.

Fox News repots Matthew also suggested Romney and Ryan were telling Americans that they would "operate under a religious theory, under a religious belief. We're going to run our country this way, to the point of making a woman's decision to have an abortion, her reproductive rights, as criminal, perhaps murderous."
