Beverly Round: Substitute teacher pushed to the floor by student, attack caught on camera

A Texas teacher says she's fine after getting shoved by a student.

The 66-year-old ended up on the ground during the confrontation, which revolved around a cellphone.

The teenager is in trouble and local residents are shocked by the incident.

The student teacher confrontation at Nimitz High School lasts for less than a minute.

It ends with a substitute teacher laid out on the floor.

Beverly Round is back home and on the mend after being treated for minor injuries.

"I'm all right thank you," Round told a reporter at her home.

She says she's now just trying to move forward.

The 66-year-old's neighbors are seeing the video for the first time.

They say Round is a strong woman who refused to let health problems keep her out of the classroom.

"she's had two knee surgeries, it's hard for her to get around as it is. She's doing them a favor by coming in and teaching those kids," said neighbor Yvette Nash.

Aldine I.S.D. school officials say Round confiscated a cell phone from the 16 year old boy seen on the footage pushing her before knocking her to the floor to get the phone back.

Fellow students believe what was done to her is simply ruthless.

"You can see her walking past to try get away from it, he pushed her twice the last time she's on the ground you see her kinda hit her head going down. Most people laugh, I didn't find it funny," said one student.

Parents say they're also disappointed in the other kids in the class who appear to be laughing.

"There's no reason for you to put your hands on anybody.. Let alone on a little old lady who's 66. I just have no words for that right there," said kelli arthur, a concerned citizen.

Officials say the teenager who pushed the teacher was arrested by campus police.

He's been charged with injury to the elderly.
