Two hospitalized after four-car crash on Okeechobee Boulevard

SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Three people were hospitalized Friday evening after four vehicles were involved in a crash on Okeechobee Boulevard near Florida's Turnpike, a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.

The crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. A Toyota SUV traveling east on Okeechobee Boulevard at a high rate of speed lost control and went over the road median, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said.

The SUV hit a westbound Lincoln that was turning into a nearby shopping plaza, Barbera said. The SUV then flipped and struck a Honda Civic and a Ford F150 pickup truck.

Five people were involved, including the three taken to hospitals. Officials did not consider their injuries life-threatening. One was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, another to Wellington Medical Center and the third to Palms West Medical Center in Loxahatchee.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Barbera said.
