BOCA RATON, FL -- Suzanne and Zachary Walker tied the knot a couple of weeks ago. They had the fairy tale wedding by the beach.

Their wedding was a little different than most. Instead of buying wedding favors for their guests, Zachary says they made a charitable donation.

"Instead of the traditional party favor candles or a little bottle of wine and a flower, we decided to give handmade cards made by mothers in Haiti and this is a work program through Food for the Poor that is made of banana bark and these cards are not only pieces of art, they are also a reminder that there are bigger causes out there".

Suzanne says they have a passion to help poor countries, such as Haiti. "We know the reasons why we are passionate about it and like he said we wanted to bring the awareness because we have been to weddings before where you get a candle, something that you end up throwing away and so it ends up being meaningless so we wanted to find a way to basically express what is so passionate about Food for the Poor".

The newlyweds donated several hundred dollars to the organization. But wanting to make a difference among the guests didn't stop there.

Zachary is on staff at Lynn University. He is taking a message to the college students that helping the less fortunate is important.

He has also encouraged students to visit Haiti. "There is a huge transformation in their own hearts, we've had students change majors after they got back from these trips, we've had students go back into their communities maybe not be involved in Food for the Poor but maybe more involved in the food shelters in their own community".

A couple, making a difference in future generations.
