If you dont want city water in the acreage make sure you go to this meeting!!!!!!!! Sept. 2nd at Seminole Ridge High School, 6:30-9. I know I dont want city water, nor do I want the huge bill that will be attached to it. I shouldn't have to pay for something due to some scared people wanting to put the blame of their cancer on the water with out having any proof!

i moved from the acreage in 2005, there are a cluster of know cases in the area that I lived in for about 9 years. Do I need to get my children or myself tested for any particular type of tumor? Also, my dog developed bone cancer and died while we lived in the acreage as well. She drank from our pond all of the time...could it have to do with the well water....

Water and soil is tested when a home is built and has to pass. But testing isn't done any other time. How long have some of the people been in these homes and how old are the homes? Cancer doesn't pop up over night. Has anyone looked in to the Chinese drywall that was used in house building and maybe used for add ons or repairs after the hurricanes. I wish and prayer for the best for all involve I have four kids out here three who were born here and they are all fine. Hopefully there isn't anything out here causing this but lets make sure everything is covered with test and such so there isn't a wide spread panic...

I think the response so far seems to be similar to insurance companies "conservative" approaches to most common ailments. Are you kidding me! This many cases in a small area and youre reposnse is "it's going to take time!". Get some equipment in there. Start sampling the water, soil, air... Start cehcking power lines for electromagnetic leakage. Start driving around with geiger counters looking for radiation sources. This is definitely not a coincidence, and it isn't a bunch of people with the flu. It's cancer and it's definietly related to the region. Ther should be people there testing the environment NOW. Unless of course the people that are affected and those who have yet to be affected are disposable pawns in this. I'm sure in an election year they wouldn't be. I am sickened by the conservativeness of this response. We need to go over their heads.

I'm commenting on two things Dr. Alonso was quoted on in this story: When Senator Nelson mentioned "rocket science" he wasn't referring to the process of investigating these cases; he after hearing the families stories it didn't take rocket science to know something is peculiar in this area. Dr. Alonso also was quoted as saying "...so many different types of tumors". I was at that table as one of the 18 families affected by cancer. I'm not sure what she considers as so many different types but I recall 3 or 4 different types of cancer - all were brain tumors and most of which were glioblastomas. I don't want to sound ungrateful towards Dr. Alonso. But we are all going to have work together to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks goes to PBC Health Department, but more so to Senator Bill Nelson and his office. I really don't feel we - families that already have been affected by cancer - would have gotten this response without the Senator's presence and influence.
