Have you ever seen a new product and said, "Boy, I should have thought of that!" Today meet four South Florida moms who had a good idea...and acted on it.
Feeding her 4-month-old son Dillon, helped inspire Lisa Alfieri to create one of the new must-have baby products.
Lisa Alfieri-mom inventor says, "I always found that my forearm would go numb and it was uncomfortable supporting the baby's head--because as he got bigger he got heavier. So, I was always padding my arm."
There was nothing on the market that would help--so Lisa got busy.
Lisa Alfieri says, "I cut receiving blanket material and then went to the fabric store and got lycra for the bottom part. Then I went to a seamstress and had her make me one."
Two years later--- the "Beelu Feeding Pillow" was born.
Lisa says, "This is something that is portable--you can travel with it. Instead of the Boppy or My Best Friend you can put this in your diaper bag and aren't confined to your home--today's mom is not at home."
Women at a different stage in life--- inspired Carol Papkin and Cathy Schwartz.
Carol Papkin-mom inventor says, "I thought menopause--that's the first thing I thought because I sweat at night."
They are the inventors of "Cooljamaz" and say a good night's sleep is no sweat.
Carol says, "People are tearing off their blankets and pajamas and taking showers in the middle of the night. If you lay there--the sweat evenly distributes and then within minutes evaporates off. It drys 4 times faster than cotton."
Carol and Cathy say the moisture wicking properties will never wash out of their pj's--and are the softest on the market. And they're not just for women going through the change.
Cathy Schwartz-mom inventor says, "Women going through cancer treatments, those with thyroid problems have night sweats.
Even women with M.S. problems--the heat bothers them--this too could help as well."
Cathy and Carol also make moisture wicking bandanas and pillowcases.
Robin McDonald also knows a thing or two about pillows-especially when it comes to making them stand-out in a well coordinated bedroom.
She started "Decor 2 ur Door" out of her Wllington home.
Robin McDonald-mom inventor says, "Decor 2 ur Door" offers custom bedding ensembles-soup to nuts. Bedding, sheets, shams, lamps, rugs and wall decor--everything encompassed together."
Robin says it's a quick and easy way to make a bedroom go from drab to fab!
Robin says, "I started out with the dorms but now I'm into teens, kids, boys--176 different ensembles--click on the choice and it's shipped to the dorm or home--wherever you like."
From instant decorating, to a cool night's sleep to a comfortable way to feed your baby---Products that started with a good idea---and a passionate inventor.
