It's one of the worst cases of animal abuse seen in years by the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast.
Officials there say someone poured hot cooking oil on a puppy and left him to die.
A tip led animal control to find the pit bull puppy scalded.
They believe someone boiled cooking oil and poured it on the dog to get revenge on his owner.
A spokesperson for the Humane Society says the investigation is ongoing.
The puppy's wounds were so bad when he was brought to the Humane Society, they didn't know if he'd survive.
But, a strong will to live, lots of love from a foster parent, and plenty of visits to veterinarians all helped give the little dog named Chance, a second chance at life.
The now four month old puppy is on his way to a full recovery and was just adopted into a loving home.

Humane Society of the Treasure Coast Foster Care Program
This unique program helps to save the lives of our smallest and/or weakest residents. You will provide specialized care in your home for kittens and puppies not ready to be weaned, dogs and cats pre- or post- surgery, or an animal requiring medical attention due to illness. All of these special needs animals require additional attention in a less stressful environment. For a period of time from a couple of days up to a few weeks you will be responsible for their care and feeding. Once they’re strong enough they will come back to the shelter in order for us to find them a permanent, loving home. (As needed. Requires additional Volunteer Training.)
