Miami-Dade man arrested in tanker explosion

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- Early Monday morning a tanker carrying thousands of gallons of gasoline collided with a station wagon that was left on I 95 near Summit Boulevard.

The tanker exploded and and it took fire fighters six hours to put out the blaze.

The driver of tanker was treated and released from St Mary's Medical Center with minor injuries.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol located that driver of the abandoned station wagon.

Roberto Velasquez did not have a driver's license when he drove the car owned by Ortega Auto Tech in Opa-Locka.

Velasquez told investigators that the car broke down on I 95 and he and another person could not move it.

When the tanker approached the two men jumped out and ran off the interstate just prior to the explosion.

Velasquez was arrested and charged with driving without a license as well as leaving the scene of an accident without providing aid or information.
