A calendar just out in Boynton Beach could be the hottest item on the market this holiday season.
The Fraternal Order of Police, Gold Coast Lodge #49, released Tuesday the 2008 Boynton Beach Police Officer Calendar.
"We take action, that's why we're officers," says Officer Chad Shane.
Male and female officers, sergeants, and detectives from the Boynton Beach Police Department are on the calendar beat.
You could call it modeling in the first degree.
They're hoping many in the community want to take the calendars into custody because proceeds benefit Maggie Schoenfeld,8, who is battling leukemia.
She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in September of this year. Maggie is the daughter of Officer Steve Schoenfeld.
"It's a different outlook on Maggie's treatments," says Officer Schoenfeld.
"Steve, if you know him, he's the kind of guy who gives the shirt off his back so I figured I'd give the shirt off mine," says Sgt. Frank Ranzie.
"I'm a little disappointed I didn't get a month," says Schoenfeld with a laugh.
You'll find smiles and shoulders, biceps and badges.
2000 calendars are hot off the press, ready for a rapid response just in time for the holiday season. Even Maggie's medical team is interested.
"A bunch of nurses at Bethesda already asked me about the calendars," says Schoenfeld.
"They need to do it every year," says Boynton Beach resident Jacqueline Smith.
Calendars can be purchased at the Boynton Beach Police Department or go to the Police Department's MySpace page Calendars are on sale for $8.
All proceeds benefit the Margaret Alyson Schoenfeld Fund. Meet the officers at a Calendar Launch Party and Autograph Signing event on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30pm at the Boynton Beach Ale House.
The Boynton Beach Police Department is also teaming up with Panera Bread on Wednesday, Nov. 28, for a day of help and hope in the fight against leukemia.
From 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., 50 percent of all sales at Panera Bread’s Boynton Beach location will be donated to the Margaret Alyson Schoenfeld Fund.
Panera Bread, 701 N. Congress Avenue, has planned a full day of fun activities in Maggie’s honor.
Police officers and firefighters will be on-hand to serve food throughout the day and baking classes will be offered for a $25 donation to the fund.
There will be a vintage car show from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and a special guest performance by the band Freeload.
From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., there will be a silent auction featuring thousands of dollars in items, including tickets to the Honda Classic from PGA National, Florida Panthers autographed items, trips to Disney, spa packages, gift certificates and much, much more.
