WEST PALM BEACH,FL--Virtual worlds and online gaming have reached the elementary school set.  In this case, playing video games could have some benefits.

Take the SmartyCard, for example.

Kids enter a massive multi-player online game like a game show. They are hit with a variety of questions based on school subjects. If they answer questions correctly, they earn points on their SmartyCard.

The SmartyCard works like PayPal for kids. Points can be redeemed in other virtual game worlds like WebKinz, Bella Sara and Club Penguin. Points can also be spent for downloads from iTunes and Wii games, or books, toys and DVD's.

It's something of a new approach to encourage kids to eat their veggies before they get their virtual dessert.
