Jupiter, FL -- It takes you right back to your childhood. What kid didn't love the hula hoop ....it provided hours of fun!

The fun doesn't have to end...people of all ages...are using hula hoops to get in shape.

Kim Thomson is a local mother and realtor. She started hula hooping 2 years ago...thinking it would be a fun way to work on her abs...and get a flat stomach.

"I went and got a little hoop from Wal Mart and practiced in my room by myself.  I got good at it..and thought I can teach this..but needed a bigger hoop." So she created one...and now teaches hoop dancing every week.

Fitness expert Ivy Larson gave it a try...and loved it. She says it's a no impact workout that anyone can do. The possibilities are endless.

"So what I've done is hoopnastics. It integrates pilates, yoga, ballet inspired exercises using the big sports hoop."

If you haven't hula hooped in decades don't be afraid to try again. Kim Thomson says,  "Anyone can do it. so you're just rocking...instead of throwing your body . Then once you get that down you can start dancing and doing more moves with the hoop."

It beats of the boredum of the treadmill... gets your heart pumping and makes you feel like a kid again.

Kim Thomson says, "Actually it's a full body workout..you turn on the music and dance it's fun and an exercise that makes you smile..if you have stress you forget about it."
