BOCA RATON, FL --Rachel Wheeler is only 9 years old, but she has big plans to help the organization "Food For The Poor."

One day she attended the organization's meeting and heard this message from a speaker: "He was telling us about how he is building houses and giving food and clothes and I said he's doing God's work and I need to help him."

From that day on, she wanted to help build houses in Haiti, many of them destroyed by hurricanes through the years.

"I have been talking to large businesses and my mom and dad's friends and family."

Rachel has never been to Haiti, but hopes to go some day to meet the families she will be helping. "They have clothing problems, food problems and housing, house problems."

When collecting money for the people in Haiti, Rachel carries around with her a small replica of the house that will be built for the people there.

"Sometimes it's built on stilts in places where it floods a lot and they have like a metal roof that no water can get in and they have doors and windows and they really have fine wood for the outside of the houses."

So far, Rachel has raised more than 40-thousand dollars. The money will go towards building a village.

Rachel is a little girl, making a difference hundreds of miles away. Don't be surprised if one day you see Rachel holding a house in her hand. "Like I went to a chamber meeting with my mom and I went around with the house and I read to them at a table like nine or ten."
