WEST PALM BEACH, FL-- Robert Friedrich of Port St Lucie was in an auto accident in December of 2003. Shortly after the accident he went to the law firm of Fetterman and Associates seeking legal council.

While Friendrich was sitting in a chair in the conference room of the North Palm Beach law firm, the chair collapsed and he fell backwards, striking his head and hitting another piece of furniture.

The law firm of Smith, Ivey and Fronrath were hired by Robert Friedrich and his wife Heather to represent them in a lawsuit against Brandon's Home Furnishings and Fetterman and Associates.

Smith, Ivey and Fronrath filed the suit claiming liability for the seller of the chair Brandon's and the owner of the chair Fetterman and Associates.

Attorneys for the plaintives say Friedrich had to have neck surgery and lost his job of 16 years.

A Palm Beach County jury returned a verdict of $2,230,569 for the Friedrichs.

The jury found Fetterman and Associates 32.5 % at fault for the chair's collapse and Brandon's responsible for 67.5%.

The jury also found that the December 2003 accident was 25% responsible for his injuries.
