WELLINGTON, FL-- "I just came back today to collect some clothes because I'm going away next week."

Stanley Khan arrived at his Wellington townhome Tuesday afternoon, only to find out it had gone up in flames.  Palm Beach County firefighters were called to the quad-plex on Regal Court South around 9:30 a.m.

"The fire occurred in the attic space and the fire crews were able to extinguish the fire without incident," said Palm Beach County Fire Investigator David Toohey.

The flames charred Khan's second floor bedroom and caused severe fire and smoke damage to the three adjacent units.

"It was very fast, I go to the second floor and I smell it.  I turn on the lights and I see a lot of smoke,” said Mario Osorio.

One woman couldn't get her small dog out of her home.  It died from smoke inhalation.

This is the second fire at this townhome in two weeks and there are a lot of questions as to how this happened again.

"There's some discrepancy whether there was power to the unit today or not, I believe there was, but we still need to iron that out with some interviews," said Inv. Toohey.

"It was turned off, the fire brigade turned it off and they told me not to turn it back on, it was off, everything was off," said Khan.

A frustrated and confused Khan says he never moved back into the townhome after the first fire.
His misfortune has him looking at extending his upcoming vacation.

"I'm going on a cruise for 9 days.  Maybe I'll just make it 90 and never come back."
