The courts have ruled in many cases that law enforcement personnel are not duty bound to protect us as a private citizen (Warren vs DC). So, it is up to each and every individual to protect themselves and their families. I am happy to see that alot of females are arming themseleves and not listening to the anti-gun freaks.

"...taking matters into their own hands..." This phrase irritates the Hell out of me. As American citizens, we don't have to "take matters into our own hands", because WE are the only legitimate "government", and the "matters" are already in "our own hands". Under our system of constituional republicanism, the citizen(s) possess all lawful authority. Police, politicians, and other "governmental authorities" possess only those power we loan to them. Simply because we grant them authority does not mean we surrender ours. Sovreignity rests within the people. Additionally, under the legal doctrines put forth by the judicial system, "government" has no lawful duty to protect the individual citizen (see Warren vs. D.C.) and the criminal cannot be compelled to obey the "law" (see Haynes vs. U.S.). Defense of self, family, home, hearth, community, state, and nation is the responsibility and duty of the People, not the "government". Anyone who will abdicate this responsibility, and rely upon "government", is a fool unworthy of defensive assistance. Why should I defend someone whom refuses to defend themselves? Our Founders must be spinning like tops in their graves. I would think that if they came back to life today, they would ask 2 questions: What the Hell did you people do to what we left to you; and, Where is my musket? I'm going to set things right! Mr. Jefferson, allow me to introduce you to Mr. AR-15. TSgt B

Outstanding! That's what the 2nd Amendment is all about; it's NOT about hunting or a declaration that the ARMY can be armed. It's about people taking responsibility for their own safety. Cops can't be everywhere. Hats off to the women who are smart enough to prepare for the worst! Here's hoping that you never need to fire a shot in self-defense, but only when having fun with your friends at the range.
