PORT ST. LUCIE, FL -- Greg Edgerly had his wife and son try to get him out of bed and off to work this morning.
The effort caused him to pass out.
Edgerly has an endocrine tumor and doctors say he has just days, if not hours, to live.
Marilyn Edgerly won't leave her husband's bedside for more than a few minutes.
"My priority is to make sure he's comfortable and that he knows that his family's going to be taken care of once he passes," she says. "They don't think it's going to be long."
Greg worked in construction before he got sick, moving from Michigan to Florida after the 2004 hurricanes. He followed them to Louisiana, then Texas.
When Greg returned from the Galveston area in December, Marilyn didn't recognize him. The once healthy 51-year old was rail thin.
Since he returned home, Marilyn says their life together has flashed before their eyes.
When asked how long they've been married, Marilyn answers 27 years. "Not long enough," she says.
Greg knows his family is desperate for money. They're a month and a half late on their rent and behind on their power and water bills.
Both utilities were shut off last week, but Marilyn begged to have them restored. She knows they could be cut off again at any time.
She's called every organization she can think of and no one seems to be able to help.
The family does not have a bank account or trust fund set up.
If you'd like to help, you can call them at their home phone number, (772) 293-1034.
Their address is 2562 SE Gowin Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952.
