Congratulations, I am very proud of you for taking a stsnd, I only wish I could get the communities in Sarasota Co. to take a stand. I will not allow any illegal worker on my property, and have it put in my contract,if I find out an illegal is working I will cancel the contract

How is it racial profiling if everyone is being examined?? Good for you, John's Island! This should be happening everywhere. Why people turn a blind eye to the illegal practices and unlawful activities is a mystery to me.

Although it is best to ask everyone for ID, to prevent racial profiling, the private HOA is not obligated. Racial profiling is a guidance taught to law enforcers, for rules of encountering the public, and to prevent the appearance of racism -- it is a verbal reprimand, not even a misdemeanor. The HOA, should read the DHS I-9 form, page 4, available free online.

Thank You John's Island, the rest of the private gated communities need to join in. This sends a quiet, but definate statement that says, "if you are illegal you are NOT Wanted, Go Home".

Kudos to these folks. We need more just like them. Since our federal government doesn't seem to be too interested in stopping the illegal 'invasion' actions such as these are welcomed by those of us who are doing all we can to save our nation!

Thank You for standing up for AMERICANS right to work. Ifyou are here illegally youdonot have a right to work, drive or vote to dictate the laws that you live by. It is illegal to employee undocumented workers and you are abiding by the law.

Shave32 - Many of my friends call me a "bleeding heart liberal" but I am TOTALLY FOR these types of requirements! As for those who will complain that this is a form of profiling - well hello, I have to show a driver's license or other photo ID to get on an airplane and I'm about as white as you can get - red haired and freckled, too! No, this is not about profiling, this is about staying within the laws and requiring others (employers) to do it, too! I just hope other communities - gated snobs or otherwise - step up and do the same. It's time for CITIZENS to support our laws since our government doesn't!

Good for Johns Island! I commend every single one of the residents that supports this AND I wish the rest of the company would do the same. If we did maybe the damn illegals would go home and we could put REAL American men and women back in employment. I agree with CMLAWS, does the word ILLEGAL not mean anything to anyone? Well, I guess it doesn't if you are a bleeding heart liberal hahahahaha.

Money talks! Since this is an "exclusive community", it appears they can do what they please without fear of legal ramifications. Actually, it's a good thing, but questionable and ambiguous laws regarding profiling prevent the majority of communities in other states from taking the same stance. We should all be permitted to implement such restrictions and prevent illegals from taking jobs from our own citizens. The mayor of one small town in my state tried to do this, but got dumped on by the masses screaming racism, so now we've got an entirely "new wide-spread community of illegals" without documentation, keeping a low profile.
