LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Coming off of an historic week, gay and lesbian rights activists rallied in Lake Worth Sunday.
Supreme Court justice Anthony Kennedy denied a request this weekend from supporters of California's Proposition 8 to stop the issuance of same-sex marriage licenses.
Along the beach at Lake Worth, gay rights supporters met to figure out how they can get some of the same rights awarded to gay couples in California, here in Florida.
"We're celebrating the end of DOMA and the beginning of a lot of work in the great state of Florida to get rid of our constitutional amendment that says that same sex genders cant get married or have domestic partnerships," said Allan Hendricks with Equality Florida.
Florida Governor Rick Scott said last week he will uphold the existing law of the land which is the law of the state.
