ROCHESTER, NY - (WHAM/CNN) A New York woman broke into someone's car to free a dog on a hot day and says she'd do it again.
Elizabeth Gibson says she saw the animal inside a car parked in this grocery store lot.
The windows were down a bit but Gibson says the animal appeared to be in distress.
“That dog was displaying a purplish tongue and staggering in the back seat and that's when I knew something had to happen,” she said. “I took off my shoe and hit the window twice.”
Police say the dog had been in the car for less than 30 minutes, while Gibson claims it was at least 45 minutes.
The animal was returned to its owner and no one faced charges.
