A toddler running in the middle of the road was rescued by a traffic police from an imminent tragedy as a car was speeding toward the child.

The incident took place in Tongren City of southwest China's Guizhou Province on Tuesday.

A surveillance camera footage shows that a motorcycle suddenly stopped in the middle of the road and a toddler jumped off the motorcycle, running toward the opposite side of the road while a black car was speeding toward the child.

At the critical point, a traffic policeman quickly snatched up the child, avoiding a fatal accident. "I saw the dangerous situation. Without thinking, I hurried up and snatched up the kid," said Long Guangliang, an auxiliary traffic policeman.

It was learned that the boy, only two-years-old, is too short for the speeding-up driver to see.

"We asked the driver [of the motorcycle" why the child was running on the road. He said that he was running toward the opposite side of the road because he saw his mother there," Long said.
