Suitcase scooter: Chinese man invents motorized suitcase to solve traveling woes

CHANSHA CITY, China - A suitcase like no other has hit the roads of an eastern Chinese city.  The inventor, He Liangcai, hopes to revolutionize personal transportation and luggage.

Liangcai spent about a decade developing the idea of a suitcase that doubles as an electric scooter.

The suitcase scooter, which is rechargeable, weighs 15 pounds and can reach a top speed of 12 mph.

The battery life lasts five to six hours and it can travel at a maximum distance of 27 miles when it is fully charged.

Liangcai plans to sell the suitcase scooter on the market for $600 to $4,800, depending on the type of model.  He says the inspiration for his idea came from seeing tired travelers struggle with heavy luggage.
