Deli clerk uses machete to stop an armed robbery attempt (VIDEO)

An armed robber barged into the Stop and Shop Deli on Long Island last month firing a warning shot and demanding money from the clerk.

It only took a few seconds for the clerk to grab a large machete from underneath the counter and charge after the gunman.

The robber took off as the store clerk chased him to the parking lot, wielding the machete and foiling the robbery attempt.

The owner of the deli said the store started keeping the machete behind the counter just a month ago "for protection."

Police released the video in an attempt to find the suspect.

They say the August 2011 date on the video is a glitch in the camera and is not correct. The incident took place on September 25th, 2013.
