Indianapolis car destroyed by lightning strike

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - (WXIN/CNN) - An Indianapolis driver got quite a shock Thursday morning after lightning hit his car.

The man's car was parked outside when he says it was struck by lightning, causing a small fire.

The fire was put out quickly thanks to a fire extinguisher, but it sparked again and gutted the vehicle.

The 20-year old owner wasn't hurt but says he just completed basic training with the National Guard and was using the car to drive to job interviews.

He said he plans to file an insurance claim.
