Glow-in-the-dark antlers hope to save Finland reindeer

Reindeer herders and animal activists hope they've come up with a new way to prevent reindeer from being hit by cars.

Up to 5,000 reindeer are killed by cars every year in Finland.

In the latest attempt to prevent the road deaths, herders are spraying reindeer antlers with fluorescent dye.

Reflective tape has been tried and that didn't work, so have actual reflectors.

But if the dye continues to stick to animal's antlers, then it could be a solution.

The dye must stay on the antlers until the fall.

The antlers of 20 reindeer are being sprayed in this newest experiment.

Some 200,000 reindeer roam northern Finland according to reports.
