(NBC News) - A stay-at-home dad says he wants to ban play dates for children because he believes it’s hampering spontaneity for kids.
The dad blogger, Chris Bernholdt, says playing together has become too formal, with set dates and times. He said the scheduled play times has rendered his son “incapable of calling his friends because he feels awkward asking.”
“I think that if you're scheduling things for them all the time that they become dependent on the schedule, so they're constantly going to be coming to you asking, ‘what's next, what's next,’” said Bernholdt.
He says play dates are almost as bad as when people call him "Mr. Mom".
