Blue-tongued skink visits WPTV studio

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A blue-tongued skink visited the WPTV studio with folks from the Palm Beach Zoo.  "Dundee" made an appearance Saturday.

The name is no surprise, the reptile's tongue is a bright blue.

It's native to Australia or southeast Asia.

It uses its tongue to ward off potential predators.

The skink stays just underneath the ground, with the patterns on its back helping it to blend into the scenery.  It has an opposable eyelid.  The skink is an omnivore who gives birth to live babies.

The Zoo is holding its camps for summer, its most popular education program of the season.  For details, visit www.palmbeachzoo.org/zoo-camp

For the adults, the Roar & Pour event is Saturday 4:30-9:30.  For details, visit www.palmbeachzoo.org/roar-and-pour
