'Odor described as flatulence' prompts American Airlines flight evacuation in North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. - Reports of somebody passing gas on an American Airlines plane caused passengers to become sick and everyone had to be removed from the jet.

According to WNCN.com, the plane landed at the airport in Raleigh on Sunday when the incident was reported.

People on the flight complained of headaches and nausea and had to be taken off the plane.

Airport authorities investigated the incident and determined that one of the passengers had "passed gas."

An airline spokesperson later claimed the evacuations were due to a “mechanical issue.”
